Edwin ColfaxEdwin Colfax is a director of state projects for the Justice Project.

Since 2001, he has directed the Illinois Death Penalty Education Project, a joint project of the Justice Project and the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University School of Law, where he established a successful track record of reform advocacy and public education on the causes of wrongful convictions and the merits of various proposed solutions. Mr. Colfax currently manages the Justice Project’s work in Georgia and Illinois.

Prior to joining the Justice Project, he earned a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he specialized in ethics and political philosophy. While there, he also taught courses in political philosophy, writing, and ethics, including issues in applied ethics such as the death penalty, medical ethics and environmental ethics.
